How to read text that goes off the bottom of the page
If there is too much text to fit into an area then 'scroll bars' will appear on the right hand side of that area.
There are some on this page. To move down click on the arrows at the top and bottom of the bar on the right hand side.

Icons
All menus are in a panel at the top left corner of the screen. To the right of this is a panel showing where you are in the programme, i.e. 'Help' or 'Searching for records'.
Most screens have a help icon.

 Menu
In the top left hand corner of the screen is the Menu icon that will take you to the screen where you can change archive or language, enter records, view tutorials etcetera.

 View thumbnails
When you have searched for records you can preview miniatures on the thumbnails page.

 View Reminiscences
This icon allows you to view reminiscences.

 Moving to another record
Next to the menu are two small arrows. Click on these to move between records. If a search has returned only one record then the arrows will disappear.
Greyed out arrows mean that there are no more records in that direction.

 Search
This looks like a pair of binoculars and leads you to the search form

 Sound
If the record has a sound clip associated with it then rewind, play and pause buttons appear

Zoom
Clicking on an image will zoom in or out

Hot spots
A 'hot spot' is a label attached to a record. The most common use for a hot spot is to name a person in a photograph

Clicking on this will turn on yellow spots on the picture and moving the mouse pointer over the spot will show details about that spot.

A blue hot spot is used to show the spot for which you have searched.

A yellow and blue spot shows that other spots are connected. If you click you will be able to follow all occurrences of that hotspot in date order.
